About the Program

The 2011 ACC Junior Golf Program will be different from the program in the past.  We are incorporationg Wednesdays for eight weeks (June 8 – July 27/ Junior Event on August 3) as "Junior Golf Day"…almost a one-day-a-week camp at Anderson Country Club.

Young golfers (ages 4 - 17) may be dropped off at 8 a.m. (of course, parents and grand parents are welcome to stay and watch, too!)  Children will enjoy juice or milk, a piece of fruit, individual box of cereal, or biscuit, roll or danish (something different offered each week).  45-60 minutes of golf instruction will begin at about 8:30.  Doug Mochrie, Class A PGA Professional, will be instructing along with Matt Harting and Nick Wooley, PGA Assistant Professionals.

Junior golf participants will be separated into three groups with each of the three professionals working with a small group on a rotating basis.  In this manner, every twenty minutes the juniors are learning/perfecting a new skill with a different professional.  This process creates a fun atmosphere and maintains youngsters attention span.

After the golf lesson, a snack will be served.  Then the junior golfers will engage in putting or chipping games, golf etiquette/rules games and other fun activities created by the golf professional staff……By about 10 – 10:30 a.m. the youngest golfers may be picked up and older golfers (ages 10+ and those younger golfers who qualify) may head out on to the golf course to play.  (The front 9 will be closed for junior golfers from 10 a.m. – Noon) Golfers under 10 years old who choose to remain at the Club will enjoy activities that are age appropriate…there may even be a two-hole “kid’s course” created on the driving range on Wednesdays.

Lunch (a different lunch each week:  hot dog, hamburger, peanut butter sandwich, maccaroni and cheese) will be served at about 11:30 - 12 and then Juniors have the choice of playing golf or swimming until about 2 p.m. when their Junior Golf Day will end.
